At Alford, we hold weekly assemblies. These are usually led by members of the School Leadership Team (SLT) and cover many Health and Wellbeing-related themes which affect our young people such as Autism Awareness, World Mental Health Day or world events/celebrations such as Chinese New Year.
Additionally, each class takes over from SLT and hosts one assembly a year. This is an opportunity for pupils to share in-class learning and gain experience of performing on a stage in front of an audience. Our pupil voice group - The Digital Leaders - will hold at least one assembly this year, highlighting the importance of Internet Safety.
At our assemblies, we have a values focus each week. All week our teachers keep an eye on who is living Alford's values most in their class and select a pupil to win the award at assembly on Friday. The pupils love receiving the awards but they also love seeing their classmates receive them!
Most importantly, our assemblies are packed with good news, singing, dancing and happy faces. It's great to get time to gather as a school and we all really enjoy them!
