At Alford Primary, we hold weekly assemblies that bring our school community together to learn, celebrate, and share. These assemblies are usually led by members of the School Leadership Team (SLT) and focus on a wide range of Health and Wellbeing themes that matter to our young people — for example, Autism Awareness, World Mental Health Day, and world celebrations such as Chinese New Year.
Each class also takes a turn to host an assembly once a year. This gives pupils the chance to share their learning with the school and gain valuable experience performing on stage in front of an audience. Excitingly, we are inviting parents in to see their class assemblies this year.
Our Digital Leaders will also lead at least one assembly this year, helping everyone understand the importance of Internet Safety.
Every week, we shine a spotlight on one of Alford’s core values. Throughout the week, teachers look out for pupils who best demonstrate these values, and one pupil from each class is selected to receive a Bullseye Award during Friday’s assembly. The children love celebrating their own success — and just as much, they enjoy cheering for their classmates!
Most importantly, our assemblies are filled with good news, singing, dancing, and lots of happy faces. It’s a special time for us all to come together as a school community and celebrate what makes Alford Primary such a great place to learn and grow.
