It’s that time of year again!
When snow is forecast, you can keep up to date with school closure information by visiting the Aberdeenshire Council website (click ⬇️ ) or by downloading the MyAberdeenshire app. You can also register through the app to receive email alerts about school closures.
Adverse Weather Arrangements
During periods of severe weather, the Senior Leadership Team will make decisions based on the latest forecasts, guidance from Police Scotland and other relevant agencies, and discussions with local transport providers and school staff. Depending on conditions, we may implement a full school closure, a partial closure, or a delayed opening.
Updates will be posted on our website as early as possible and shared via email. Please be aware that weather and road conditions can change quickly, so we recommend checking for the most recent information before travelling to school.
If we do need to close, teachers will provide online learning by 9.30am on Just 2 Easy as a journal post for the whole class. A range of engaging activities will be offered, and we encourage pupils to log on and take part. We also love seeing photos or examples of any “snow day learning” you would like to share at home. Most importantly, we hope everyone stays warm and safe.
If the school remains open but you are unable to transport your child due to adverse weather, please report the absence in the usual way by calling the school office on 019755 20390 or emailing alford.sch@aberdeenshire.gov.uk.
